Here is a list of all the current events with a page link to a short description of each event. This should give you an idea of what the events are about. Please refer to the current manual for complete details.
Pre-Convention Events
Convention Events
The New Reference Manual for 2008 has been converted into web pages here online. Go here for the new 2008 manual. Now you can search for specific words anywhere in the site, including the manual pages. You are also able to get just the page(s) you need and print only the pages you want.
Preconvention Events
Bible Class Teaching
This event helps and encourages young people to develop creative teaching skills. The student will develop a lesson and submit a 15-25 minute video of the lesson being taught.

Bible Reading (7-12 grades)
To provide an opportunity for young people to develop skills through the oral reading of the Scripture.

Christian Essay
Written communication has always been an important means of teaching and admonishing Christians. From the time inspired authors gave instruction until the modern journals and publications of today, clear ideas presented skillfully have made lasting impressions on the hearts and minds of those who wish to learn the meaning of God's will.
This event challenges individuals to use the written word to communicate God's message. Their writing content, style, and message should reflect a respect for the importance and value of communicating God's message in written form.

Christian Fiction
In today's world there is a need for fiction that conveys a Christian message as an alternative to the fiction of our age that is often atheistic and amoral in nature. This event encourages those who enjoy creative writing to use their skill in a Christian arena.

Christian Website
As the Internet becomes more and more a part of our societys daily life, it is becoming imperative that a church have a website promoting its ministries, focus and reliance on the Bible. The purpose of this event is to provide opportunity and experience to individuals wishing to serve in developing in this new communications medium.

Communion Meditation
Jesus Christ died on the cross to save us. The message of His death, burial and resurrection is the foundation of Christianity. To remember the importance of Gods sacrifice of his son, Jesus provided us with the Lords Supper. This event encourages our youth to express their comprehension of the relevance of Christs death to all aspects of the Christian life. Though this is a written event, it should be written as if giving a talk in preparation for the Lords Supper.

Daily Devotional
This event is designed to encourage spiritual discipline and growth in the participant as they continue to serve the Lord with their talents and gifts. It promotes active commitment and consistency in Prayer, Study, and Journaling in the participants walk with God.

Poetry
This event develops the ability to express spiritual feelings and thoughts in the form of rhyme and verse.

Radio Minute Message
The Radio Minute Message is designed to challenge the participant in using a medium that is powerful in today's world but where time is of the essence. The participant is to design and present a radio spot on audio cassette which would reach out to the community and encourage them with the message of Christ in relation to the current years LTC theme.

Scripture Challenge
This event promotes the habit of memorizing at least 100 verses from scripture each year. It encourages memory work as a part of the Bible class program. It promotes the use of quoted scriptures in lessons and conversations. It promotes the study of scriptures as a positive replacement for time now consumed by the telephone, television, and radio.

Service Challenge
This event encourages students to make Christian service an integral part of their lifestyle. It promotes creative thinking in coming up with new ways to serve the church and the community. (Note: This is SERVICE, requiring preparation and service time. It is not just an impromptu "good deed".)

Video Bible Drama

Convention Events
Bible Bowl
To challenge players and all other participants to achieve an in-depth knowledge of God's Word! This year's books will be Joshua, Judges, and Ruth.
There will be a study guide available that may help you in preparing for Bible Bowl. It won't contain actual questions that will be used at the Convention, but it will be a very good study tool. Coming soon....

Bible Reading (3rd-6th grades)
This event provides an opportunity for young people, Grades 3-6, to motivate one another and develop skills through the oral reading of the Scripture.

Bulletin Board
The Bulletin Board event is intended to help young people develop the ability to use creative ideas and techniques to communicate a thought or theme. Adult assistance should be limited to that of advice and supervision. The bulletin board should make a clear point and develop a visual representation of the current year's LTC theme.

Chorus - Large
This event presents a cappella music in a choral setting in order to praise God, encourage believers, and witness to unbelievers. A large chorus will have 13 or more members.

Chorus - Small
This event presents a cappella music in a choral setting in order to praise God, encourage believers, and witness to unbelievers. A small chorus will consist of 2-12 members.

Christian Art
The Christian Art event was developed to encourage communication of the participant's faith and beliefs through the artistic media of sculpturing, photography, painting, drawing, and design. Participants are limited only by their imagination. Entries should make a clear point and should visually represent the current year's theme. This is not a team event.

Christian Children's Book
In the Gospels, we see the teaching techniques Jesus used to share the message of God. One of these was Jesus's great ability to reach sinners through parables and story telling. This event is to encourage the use of creative writing and drawing to share the message of God to children.

Impromptu Bible Reader's Theater
The purpose of this event is to encourage fellowship with various congregations. By working together each individual participant will get to know other LTC participants in other congregations. Each group of participants will be given a passage of scripture to read and will have 20 minutes to prepare.

Live Modern Christian Drama
This event encourages students to dramatize life applications to Christian truths. Drama is a legitimate art form that enhances our understanding and appreciation of the great truths of our faith. Through drama, youth see the issues they confront acted out, and they become more receptive to hearing what God has to say.

Leadership Challenge
This event promotes the leadership of older participants in the training of younger participants. It encourages the main idea of Leadership Training for Christ by encouraging the development of leadership skills.

Puppetry
Many people are captivated by puppetry performances. This event challenges young people to skillfully present Biblical themes and stories through the use of puppetry.

Advanced Puppetry
Many people are captivated by puppetry performances. This event challenges young people to present Biblical themes and stories through the use of exceptional puppetry skills.
If you have been a regular participant in puppetry and your team has consistently performed at a Gold award level, you should consider the challenge of participating in this event.

Scrapbook
This event provides a pictorial and written documentation of leadership development within a congregation.

Signing and Interpreting for the Deaf
This event encourages students to develop the skill of signing so that they can communicate and develop relationships with the hearing impaired, thus giving them the opportunity to minister to the needs of the hearing impaired.
Participants will sign to either a scripture recording or one of three song choices. The recordings for these selections are available near the end of the manual page for this event.

Song Leading
Singing is an integral part of praising God. The song leader's skills directly affect the praising of God in group settings. This event encourages the development of song leading skills in young men and women.

To provide opportunities for young people to develop their verbal communication talents by observing and sharing their public speaking skills.

Worship Banner
The Worship Banner event is designed to encourage young people to lead in creative expressions of a corporate worship theme in visual form. Adult assistance should be limited to that of advice and supervision. The worship banner should make a clear point to the worshiping community and develop visually the current year's LTC theme. Remember! The worship banner is to help promote worship, not just state the theme of LTC.
