Q: I'm new to LTC, where do I begin?
A: Welcome to LTCSW! For information on starting an LTC program at your congregation and joining our convention, please see our 'New To LTC' page. This page contains great starting information and all the details you need to know to get started.
Q: Where will the LTCSW convention be held?
A: The Leadership Training for Christ Southwest Region convention will be held at the San Marcos Hotel in Chandler, Arizona. You can find out more about the resort at their web site www.sanmarcosresort.com
Q. What are the dates of the coming convention?
A. The 2009 LTCSW Convention is scheduled for Friday through Sunday, April 10-12, 2009, Easter weekend at the San Marcos Resort.
Q. What is the dress code for LTC SW?
A. All attire must be clean and modest. No extreme fads. Clothing with advertising words or pictures must be of a wholesome nature. Shorts, bare midriffs, or thin strapped tops are not allowed. The dress applies to EVERYONE attending LTC-SW. Everyone is encouraged to wear their LTC T-shirts.
Q. What are we to study for the coming year's Bible Bowl?
A. Bible Bowl for the 2009 convention is on the book of John.
Q: When should we begin making our reservations?
A: You should make your reservations as soon as possible! Please call the hotel directly at 480-812-0900 or the Crowne Plaza national reservation line at 800-528-8071 (make your reservations for the San Marcos in Chandler).
Q: Are there any deadlines for making reservations?
A: The deadline for phoning in your reservations is February 4th, 2008. Phoning in your reservations early will give you a better selection of accommodations (2 queen beds versus 1 king bed). If you plan on putting just 2 people in a room then please request a room with a king bed. Every year the convention location runs out of rooms with 2 queen beds.
Q: Who makes the room reservations for our congregation?
A: Each congregation is responsible for making their own reservations with the hotel.
Q: Is there anything special I need to tell the reservationist when I call?
A: The following information will be needed when you phone in your reservation:
- Identify your self as part of the Leadership Training for Christ convention
- Name of the adults that will be staying in the room
- Type of room (2 queen beds or 1 king bed)
- You will need a credit card to secure your reservation. (You may send a check in advance or pay in a different manner once you arrive at the hotel.)
- Check-in and check-out dates.
Q: What special requests can I count on?
A: You may request roll-away beds, extra pillows and blankets. However, please do not plan on having these requests fulfilled. The resort has a few extra amenities that can be spread around. The number of requests our group can generate are greater than the resort’s resources. If you know you need an extra sleeping place, please bring as many sleeping bags, extra pillows or whatever your group needs, especially if you’re traveling to the hotel by automobile.
Q: How much should we be charged for each room?
The LTCSW Board negotiated a special rate of $93 (2008) per night plus tax ($103.85 total per night) for either 2 queen beds or 1 king bed. Normally the hotel charges a per night Resort fee but that has been waived for our convention. NOTE: The special LTCSW rate is available Thursday night, Friday night and Saturday night. Come early and enjoy the resort before the convention starts!
Q: Is it possible to get all the rooms for my congregation near each other?
A: When you phone in your reservation be sure to mention this but please remember that it is extremely hard for the resort to sell you a block of rooms near each other. The resorts business is based upon people checking in and out on widely different schedules. At the current time our convention does not use up all of the resort's rooms so there will be other guests at the hotel during our convention. While it would be very nice to have everyone from your congregation in the same geographical area this may not be practical. We ask your patience and understanding. If you would like, please send a list of your room reservations numbers and names to Angie Flick, the LTC Hotel Director, at angiefishaz@hotmail.com. Angie will try and work with the hotel to put your congregation in close proximity. No promises, but we’ll try.
Q: What are the check-in and check-out times?
A: The normal check-in time is 3pm and the normal check-out time is 12 noon. If you would like to make other arrangements then be sure to mention it when you phone in your reservation and when you arrive at the front desk for check-in.
Q: Is there anything special we need to do upon check out?
A: You should stop by the front desk and check out as you would normally do at any hotel. Any incidentals that were charged to your room during the weekend will need to be paid before you leave.
Q: Are there any other Resort related issues I should be aware of?
A: In the LTCSW Reference manual you find additional Hotel Etiquette Guidelines. These are the expectations that the LTCSW Board has for all convention participants and adults. Please be sure that everyone in your group has read the guidelines from the current manual.
Q: Are meals provided during the convention?
A: Yes. The San Marcos Resort will provide meals at the convention. Being on private resort property this is the only way to provide meals at a reasonable cost. Please see the meals page for more details.
Q: What meals are being provided?
A: This year (2008) the San Marcos Resort will be providing 5 meals during the convention. This includes:
- Friday dinner
- Saturday breakfast
- Saturday lunch
- Saturday dinner
- Sunday breakfast
Q: Is it possible to provide us the menu ahead of time?
A: The new 2008 meal menu can be viewed here.
Q: What if I have a food allergy? Can special arrangements be made?
A: Yes! Please let one of the servers know what you are allergic to and the staff will try to accommodate you.
Q: How will the meal tickets work?
A: Everyone (participants, adults, Event Directors, etc, etc) are encouraged to pre-order their meal tickets before February 18th, 2008 (with your congregation's on-line registration) in order to get the best price. Once you arrive at the convention, the Church Coordinator will receive a welcome packet that will include a name tag, meal ticket and lanyard for each person. The name tag and meal ticket will be pre-punched so that they will fit on the lanyard. Each person should wear their name tag and meal ticket for the entire weekend. As you prepare to go thru the meal line someone will punch your meal ticket for the appropriate meal. Meal tickets can not be used twice for the same meal.
Q: What are the meal options?
A: We are offering 2 different meal ticket options this year. Each of these meal tickets are available for participants and adults.
- Full Meal Ticket -5 meal ticket includes:
- All 5 meals listed above
- All 5 meals listed above
- Lunch & Dinner Ticket - 3 meal ticket includes:
- Friday dinner
- Saturday lunch
- Saturday dinner
Q: How much do the meal tickets cost?
A: For meal tickets purchased by February 17th, 2008 the price
is $25 for the 'Full Meal Ticket' or $18 for the 'Lunch & Dinner Ticket'.
At the convention there will be a limited number of tickets available; the
price for meal tickets will be $30 for all 'Full meal tickets' and $21 for
'Lunch and Dinner meal tickets.' Note: No meal tickets will be sold from
February 19th until the start of the convention.
Q: Are we allowed to cook and serve meals to our kids out of our hotel room?
A: No, the Resort has been very specific that this is not allowed. The LTCSW Board encourages everyone to purchase meal tickets and enjoy fellowshipping with the other participants and adults. This is a great time to get know other people at the convention!
Q: Can we take our kids offsite and feed them?
A: The LTCSW Board has worked very hard to negotiate with the resort for these meals. We realize that you could go offsite and get meals cheaper but that would involve taking the kids away from the different events for a longer period of time and you would miss out on mingling with the other fellow Christians during the meal times. Also, The LTCSW Board has had to guarantee a certain number of meals so that the prices could be what they are. If we fail to meet the minimum number then the Board may have to make up the difference. Please consider buying one of the 2 meal tickets offered and enjoying the company of your fellow Christians.
Q: Are there any other meal options?
A: The LTCSW Board is always looking for good ideas. We are very interested in any ideas that you have regarding food or any other aspect of the LTC convention. Before you leave the convention you will be asked to fill out an Evaluation Survey. We ask that you send your comments on this form as we will review them at our post-convention board meeting.
