Chairman's Message
OK, It's Your Turn to be 選t'!
How long has it been since you have played "hide創 seek"? It probably has been a few years for most of us. In this game one of the players would have to be 選t' and then cover their eyes and count to 50. Meanwhile, everyone else is running off and trying to find a good place to hide. Once 選t' had finished counting then they had to start looking for the other players that were hiding. When 選t' found one of the players then there was a dramatic race back to home base.
I remember playing a few games with some younger players who hadn't quite grasped the rules of the game yet. As soon as 選t' started searching for people this younger player would stand up and say, "Here I am!" The rest of the players would try to get him to be quiet but usually the player just yelled louder, "HERE I AM!" The one person that never seemed to mind was the person who was 選t'. This certainly made the job of finding people a lot easier!
Now let's think back just a few months or even weeks ago. Can you remember when 選t' was trying to find a few more teachers for the Sunday School program . . . or the LTC-SW program? How about when 選t' was trying to get a few people together to go visit some of the shut-ins? Then there was that time when 選t' was challenging you to talk to your neighbors about Jesus and eternity. Which type of "hide創 seek" player were you in those situations?
This year's theme aims directly at these kinds of situations. The talents that you learn while in Leadership Training for Christ prepare you for these and many other kinds of situations. The great thing is that you don't have to wait until you get older or until you know the Bible perfectly. There are situations right now where you can get involved helping others in physical and spiritual ways. Pray that these situations will come your way and that you will have the courage to stand up and say, "Here I am!"
The LTC-Southwest Board and extended team are looking forward to a great convention in 2008. We realize that for this to happen many people have to put in a lot of hours right there in your home congregation, which is where the real fruits of LTC are born. Make it your personal goal to pitch in and help wherever needed because just like Samuel, it is really God who is listening for those 3 special words: "HERE I AM!"
