Leadership Challenge 2008

PURPOSE: This event promotes the leadership of older participants in the training of younger participants. It encourages the main idea of Leadership Training for Christ by encouraging the development of leadership skills.

PROCESS:

Each participant will:

• Complete all requirements by the beginning of the LTC-SW convention.
• Submit all Leadership entries at the convention (at the designated table) on one Leadership Challenge submission form per participant by 6:30 pm on Friday of the LTC-SW convention

The Event Director will:

• Receive the Leadership Challenge submission forms at the convention and check to see that they are correctly prepared.
• Submit a list of awards for Leadership Challenge to the Tally Room.

RULES:

1. This event is open to 7 - 12th grade participants.
2. The participant shall lead a group of participants in their training for the 2008 LTC-SW convention or will show leadership by working with younger participants on a particular event or on an ongoing basis.
3. The participant may either work with participants in more than one event or for a designated number of hours. The number of events or number of hours will determine the award received.
4. The participant will coach or co-coach a team event or three individuals preparing for an individual event. The participant may work with an adult, but must take a leadership role in the training. No more than two participants may work together with one team.
5. The participant will work under the guidance of the Church Coordinator who will certify completion of this event. The Church Coordinator may further define these requirements for their local congregation.

AWARDS:

1. There are three ratings available. Awards will be based on the following scale:

   Gold Rating:    15 hours or 3 different events being led

   Silver Rating:    10 hours or 2 different events being led

   Bronze Rating:    7 hours or 1 event being led

   Failure to submit the Leadership Challenge Submission Form in accordance with the rules and/or the submission guidelines will result in a reduced award rating being given.

2. Participants who achieve a Gold, Silver, or Bronze rating will receive an appropriately colored engraved plate for the individual's award plaque.
