PURPOSE: This event provides a pictorial and written documentation of leadership development within a congregation.

PROCESS:

Each participating group will:

  • Describe and record activities from April 2007 through March 2008.
  • Describe LTC-SW work, but other activities should be included.
  • Send in the name of one judge per book.
  • Properly register each scrapbook in correct grade category.
  • Submit scrapbooks to the Scrapbook Director at the convention between 2:00 and 5:00 p.m. Friday.
  • Submit a completed Team Form to Event Director with scrapbook.
Note: A Team Form must be submitted even if only one participant submits a scrapbook.
  • Pick up scrapbook after closing ceremony on Saturday.
  • Ensure a MAXIMUM of 6 participants work on each scrapbook entered.

The Event Director will:

  • Receive and log each scrapbook.
  • Organize books for judging.
  • Display books after judging.
  • Supply completed Team and Judging Forms to the Awards Committee.
  • Provide a copy of the judge's sheet of each scrapbook to the participating group.

RULES:

  1. Not more than six participants can work on a single scrapbook nor can participants participate in more than one scrapbook each. Scrapbooks are graded according to the grade level of the oldest participant.
  2. In order for there to be any Significant Historical Value to your scrapbook - names and location of events need to be included into the scrapbook. (For instance: With a picture of Camp, you would probably want to include the names of the campers and where the camp was held. Otherwise, in years to come, no one will remember!) The focus should be the event - tell what took place, why you were doing what you were doing, what benefits did you or others receive, etc.
  3. There are three grade categories for this event:

    Grades 3 - 5, Grades 6 - 8, Grades 9 - 12

  4. The following information must be on the first page of the scrapbook:

    LTC-SW Team Number
    Name of the congregation
    Grade category
Name, LTC-SW Identification Number, and Grade of each participant
    Name of adult advisor(s).

  5. The scrapbook should show service projects, outreach opportunities, edification activities, ability to work together, etc. These activities should be well documented with the description of the event and the participants.
  6. Scrapbooks are to be no smaller than 8.5 x 11 inches and no larger than 13 x 16 inches in size when closed.
  7. Scrapbooks may be completed in a foreign language as long as a translation in English is provided underneath the foreign wording.

JUDGING:

There will be three Judges. An award rating will be assigned based on the point average among the three Judges.

AWARDS:

Each team will be rated according to the following scale:

Gold = 95-100 points; Silver = 85-94 points; Bronze = 70-84 points; No Award = 0-69 points

An appropriately colored engraved plate for the individual's Award Plaque will be given to each team member receiving a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Rating. A team plate will be awarded to teams of two or more to hang on the congregational plaque.
