Getting Involved

LTCSW is dependent upon volunteers . . . especially you!

The best way to get started in LTCSW is to contact your local church coordinator and find out how you can help. There are many different ways to help at the local congregation and at the regional level.

If you don’t see anything that interests you, please contact the LTCSW board, and we will try to help find a place to plug you in. If you love God and love to work with young people, then there is a place for you in LTCSW!

Volunteering

LTCSW is a volunteer organization. There are many positions available to anyone who is post high school who would like to be involved.

Please start with your local congregation by speaking with your church coordinator to offer assistance. Once you have done that, if you would like to get involved at the regional level, you may contact any of the board members, who will gladly find a place for you to work.

Christian Hall And Room Monitors (C.H.A.R.M.ers)

C.H.A.R.M.ers are an integral part of each convention’s success. C.H.A.R.M.ers do everything from helping to set up rooms, running judges’ forms to the Tally Room, opening & closing doors so performers aren’t disrupted, giving directions, and generally being available to help.

There are a couple of ways to get set up as a C.H.A.R.M.er for convention. First, have your Church Coordinator register your name on the REGISTRATION portal to let the Board of Directors know of your interest. Second, contact the registration coordinator or C.H.A.R.M.er leader directly.

Judging

As a judge you have an excellent opportunity to share your experiences with a youth on how well he or she is performing a particular event. Much more than verifying whether or not the event requirements are met, you can provide pointers on how the requirements are met. Your feedback is important in encouraging the children to continue growing in Christian leadership.

You are part of a judging team. Encouragement is the key. As judge you must strive to encourage the youth by trying the event again and again. Be kind. Be compassionate. Be helpful. Be a judge.

Event Directors

An Event Director takes on the responsibility of overseeing an event. This individual is responsible for maintaining the rules of their event, directing the event at the convention or receiving pre-convention event submissions, educating and providing judges (if necessary), suggesting participants for Saturday Night Celebration, and providing an award recommendation for the plaque each participant receives. If you are interested in becoming an event director, please contact any board member.

Becoming a Church Coordinator

The Church Coordinator is the focal point for the congregation on all things related to LTCSW. This is the person that ensures all of the required tasks are completed on time. Some of these tasks included: finding adults to help work/train the youth, planning the practices, encouraging the church event coordinators, registering all the participants for the convention, and ensuring hotel reservations are made.

If you have any questions, contact the LTCSW Church Relations Coordinator, Gena Roberts.
