Written Word

Event Director: Regena Roberts

Purpose: Ancient peoples had large numbers of scribes for the transcription of religious texts, legal and historical documents. In the Old Testament the best-known scribe is Ezra. Because he was both a scribe and a priest, he was a very powerful religious leader. Those who transcribed the Scripture quickly became authorities on the Written Word. “Scribe” became a title for a learned guardian of the Law. A scribe was one who developed a comprehensive knowledge of God’s Written Word. The Church needs spiritual leaders who are biblical scholars.

Process: The participant will transcribe (handwrite) the text of Joshua, Judges, or Ruth on paper kept in a 3-ring binder.
