Event Director: Regena Roberts
Purpose: : Ancient peoples had large numbers of scribes for the transcription of religious texts, legal and historical documents. In the Old Testament the best-known scribe is Ezra; because he was both a scribe and a priest, he was a very powerful religious leader. Those who transcribed the scripture quickly became authorities of the Written Word. A learned guardian of the Law, a scribe was one who developed a comprehensive knowledge of God’s Written Word. Today, the Church needs spiritual leaders who are biblical scholars.
